This is the true, uplifting story of Saroo
Brierley. He was separated from his
parents as a boy, lost on a train in India,
and taken thousands of miles from his
home. He grew up with adoptive parents
in Australia, and then returned as an adult
to find his family. He had nothing to go on
but scattered childhood memories, and
Google Earth.
The film received six nominations for
Academy Awards, including best picture,
best original score and best
cinematography. It won best actor in a
supporting role, and best adapted
screenplay. Tomatoes gives it a critic's
score of 86, and an audience approval
score of 92.
The film was released in theatres last
November, and is just out this week on
DVD.
