The Deepwater Horizon was a floating
oil platform leased to BP, attempting
the deepest oil well in history at a
vertical depth of over 6 miles. It
experienced a blowout on April 20,
2010. The resulting fire and explosion
caused the platform to sink, at a loss of
11 lives, and resulted in the largest oil
spill ever in U.S. waters. The film by the
same name tells a human story inspired
by real events.
The film was released in theaters last
September. It is just out on DVD as of
Tuesday Jan 10, 2017. Tomatoes gives
it a critics' score of 83, and a popular

Movie Night is also a potluck. Bring a
side dish, salad, drink, or movie snack
to share. Carol is fixing chicken alfredo
for the main dish.
Arrive any time after 6 pm. Food is
served at 6:20. Movie starts at around
6:45. Those who wish can stay just for
the dinner, or just for the movie, or
both.
