Cinco de Mayo, 2017
Hey amigos y amigas, it's time to party.
On this occasion, celebrate Mexican
cuisine, music, and culture. You need an
afternoon of food, festivities, and friends.
Si?
So grab your sombrero and maracas, and
join us for a Latin celebration on Sunday
May 7, 2017.
The party is on from 1 to 7 pm, with food
served at 1:30 pm, at Don's place.
This will be a potluck. Bring an item to
share: main dish, salad, side dish, drinks,
or fruit. Think guacamole, tomatoes,
tomatillos, jicama, chilies, and limes, as
well as tacos.
Don's place is at 28146 North Bay Road,
Lake Arrowhead. A map with driving
instructions is below. Members and
friends just show up. Others call
909-744-8561.
Cinco de Mayo is a celebration of the battle
of the Puebla. On May 5, 1862, Mexican
soldiers prevailed against Napoleon's
French forces, even though the French
were better equipped, had twice the
numbers, and hadn't been defeated in 50
years. The battle was a turning point of
spirit, giving Mexicans a much needed
taste of victory. Since that time, (and with
some involvement by the U.S.,) no country
in the Americas has been invaded by any
other European force.
