Wine Tasting at Sycamore Ranch
Whether you are an accomplished wine taster, or
just like a good swirl, this is worth a trip to find
out what the fuss is about, and enjoy some of
California’s famous wines and ciders.
Believe it or not, we have a Gold-Award craft
winery and cider-works right here in our own
back yard, nestled in the countryside about a
mile north-east of Crestline. They have won two
Golds and a Best of Show at the Los Angeles
County Fair, and enter wine contests state wide.
The Sycamore Ranch Vineyard and Winery was
founded by landscape architect Richard
Krumwiede in 2012, and is now fully licensed
and bonded. They have been written up in the
Mountain News, here. They grow apples and
some grapes locally on a 3.5 acre lot, but import
most of their grapes from Central California,
where growing conditions are better. They then
produce and show the wines onsite. They aren’t
selling in stores, yet, and only host wine tasting
by appointment.
We have an appointment for Mountain Singles
members and friends for Sunday, June 11, 2017,
from 1 to 3 pm.
So, please join us for an enjoyable Sunday
afternoon with friends, appetizers, and some of
California’s finest wines and ciders. Weather is
expected to be perfect - sunny, with a high near
68.
The price of admission is $15 per person,
refundable with purchases.
The winery is located at 174 Dart Canyon Road, a
6-minute drive from Goodwin’s in Crestline. Go
east on Lake Drive, around the lake and up the
hill. Make a slight left turn onto Dart Canyon
Road. Destination is another half mile on the left,
just after a sharp right turn. If you reach a sharp
left turn, you passed it.
A map is below. If you speak latitude and
longitude, it’s at: 34.2529, -117.2590. The phone
there is 909-338-1725.
Minimum age for this event is 21. As always,
drink responsibly. Consider bringing a DD, or
carpooling.
