Do you ever break out into song, or feel that music is inside of you just waiting for audible expression? Well if so, I've found a place that you will probably like. I certainly like it, so join me there! It's called Piano & Song, and was created by our local pianist Steve Lawless and a friend Jeanine Just. The idea is to gather around a piano and... well... sing. Only, this singing defies an exact description. It's not karaoke. The pieces are predominantly Broadway, folk, love songs, and standards. An above average ability to sing on key is required, along with some scattered recall of lyrics. But there the easy part of the description ends. Something slightly magical happens, and voices turn into joy, yours among them. Whatever it is that takes place, I go home happier than when I arrived. The music in me feels that it belongs there. It still is not bursting out audibly at unguarded moments, but it's closer! |

BYOV – Bring Your Own Voice. The sing-alongs last about 4 hours, and are scheduled monthly in the Lake Arrowhead area. Dates are: March 21, April 18, May 16, and June 13. The cost is $20 per person for early reservation, and $25 for reservation within the last week.
