Weekend Camping
and Saturday BBQ
Enjoy the cool, clean mountain air in our own Shangri-La. Watch chipmunks run through trees. Walk, hike, read,
nap, or whatever you feel like. And all in the company of good friends. It’s beautiful. That’s why we live here.
So pack up your gear, and spend a weekend camping. Those who wish can join us just for a potluck BBQ on a
Saturday evening.
Our member Sandy Wade has reserved a weekend at the Buttercup Group Campground in the San Bernardino
National Forest, near Big Bear. It is located on the south side of Big Bear Lake near Pineknot Family Campground
and Snow Summit Ski Resort. It accommodates up to 40 people and 8 vehicles. Access is via dirt road, (passable
for all vehicles.) Amenities include 5 picnic tables, 1 double pedestal grill, 1 group fire ring and vault toilets.
We will also have a BBQ picnic on Saturday, for those who just want to join us for the evening.
Members and friends just show up. Others call Don first, at 909-744-8561. Your event leader is Sandy.
For camping, stay overnight Friday August 22, and Saturday August 23. Check in no sooner than 2 pm Friday.
Check out no later than noon Sunday. We will probably break camp Sunday morning, and go to an Ihop.
For the potluck BBQ, food is on at 6:30 pm, Saturday August 23.
Call Don if you wish to carpool. Our carpool point is the Park & Ride on Lake Drive in Crestline, next to Rim
Bowling.
